Dr. Holly Cruger

Dr. Holly Cruger grew up in the rural town of Grant, AL. This is where she had her first taste of veterinary medicine. Her mother was a veterinary assistant at the local animal clinic. From the age of 4 until graduating high school at 18, Holly was always involved in this clinic. She started by simply shadowing her mother, observing surgeries, and helping with basic animal husbandry. As she continued to grow, her responsibilities went from a kennel assistant to a veterinary assistant. During this time, Holly always knew that she wanted to become a veterinarian. After high school, she went on to pursue a degree in Animal Sciences – Pre-Vet at Auburn University. During her time at Auburn, Dr. Cruger worked at Schwarzer Hund German Shepherds where she developed her love of German Shepherd Dogs and other working dogs. She was also active in her Pre-Vet club confirming her desire to be a veterinarian.

Dr. Cruger was accepted into Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine before graduating from undergrad and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2015. Her veterinary career began with returning to the rural town of Grant, AL. She worked at the same clinic she grew up in for 3 years while also doing some relief work around north Alabama. In the fall of 2018, Dr. Cruger decided to uproot her life to escape the heat and humidity of the south by moving to Wilsall, MT. This was a complete leap of faith as she had never been to Montana nor did she have a job to sustain herself prior to moving. Luckily, she was hired at a small animal clinic in Bozeman, Montana. She was at that clinic for 2 years before finally being able to join the team at Sleeping Giant Animal Clinic in Livingston.

Dr. Cruger continues to pursue continuing education classes to stay up-to-date with the medical field. Her primary areas of personal interest include dermatology and soft
tissue surgery.

Dr. Cruger enjoys spending her free time with her numerous pets (2 horses, 5 dogs, 2 cats), hiking, and traveling (when not in a global pandemic). Some of her favorite places so far have been Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, and Greece.
